Drink at least 1.5 litres of water of day between meals. Mineral waters with a high magnesium content facilitate transit in the event of constipation.
Regular physical activity can eliminate stress, which may cause transit disorders.
Go to toilet as soon as you need to.
After eating, a wave of contractions begins in the intestine in order to evacuate the stools. This is a natural reflex, which helps to gently release the stools. Without this action, bowel movements would be more difficult. Constipated people should go to the toilet twice a day, approximately 30 minutes after food. Avoid straining for more than 5 minutes (as this increases the risk of haemorrhoids). This “ritual” promotes the regular evacuation of stools, especially in children.
